Have you ever known something was really wrong and felt powerless to fix it? What about if the people you put your trust in are unable to explain? As a young girl I enjoyed everything: roller skating, bike riding, swimming in the surf, horse riding, climbing trees and bush walking. By the time I reached 15, I was constantly falling over. Early the following year, I was using a wheelchair, hardly able to hold my head up and was having great difficulty swallowing. All I wanted to do was to graduate from high school, go to university and compete in swimming. This is my story….
Former Paralympian, author and guest speaker, Tamara is a two-time Paralympian and silver medallist from the Sydney 2000 games and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from Australian Catholic University and is the author of her biography No Ordinary Girl. Tamara was also Citizen of the Year for the Federal seat of Dickson in 2013 and Sporting Wheelies Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 2000


Tamara has presented inspirational talks across a broad spectrum of audiences and age groups (including primary and secondary school children) over the last 12 years. Tamara talks about her sporting dreams and successes, health issues and family support and her Christian faith and her ongoing physical, emotional and mental health battles and ploys that can help make the tough journey a little easier in life despite what obstacles you are confronted with
